Timothy Lee Standring
BIOGRAPHY
For its first participation in Liste Art Fair Basel, the gallery presents new wall-based works by Timothy Lee Standring that unfold through a chain of translation between online marketplaces, private interiors, and retail ephemera. Each piece begins with a mass-produced figurine purchased online, used both to access images of the seller’s home and to determine the scale of the final work. Details of these interiors are used as blueprints to construct the sculptures, which resemble emptied stages and hollow displays for the absent figurines. Roughly built from reclaimed materials, their surfaces are covered with wallpaper, wrapping paper, and upholstery fabric, carrying the class aesthetics and social histories embedded in their circulation. The works draw on the visual languages of domestic and commercial display, tracing how objects, images, and value move between private and public spheres.
Lee Standring’s work is also featured in the group exhibition A Nail to Hang the Day On at the Kunstverein in Hamburg, on view from 5 June to 22 September 2026.
